Lawnless

Bring wildlife to your backyard.

Getting Started

  1. Visit the Washington Native Plant Society's Species Finder, identify your ideal native species, and take note of their habitat needs.
  2. Take photos of your available space from multiple angles. Take time to map out areas of your lawn, marking areas based on the amount of shade, soil quality, and moisture content.
  3. Plan your design by noting on your diagram where each native plant would best thrive.
  4. Get to work converting your lawn: remove the sod, clear any invasives, and establish native species. You can do this on your own or hire a local landscaping crew to help you out.
  5. Share your results with us! Send us your before and after photos of your new native habitat to inspire others to make healthy changes that benefit their local environments.
