Lawnless was my very first project in my 100 level UX/UI design class. Its focus is on redesigning traditional lawns, which are often made up of non-native grasses, into ecologically-friendly and sustainable landscapes.
Native ecology across the world is being endangered and damaged by climate change, deforestation, pollution, and over-development. The degradation of native ecosystems/habitats has devastating effects on all species of life, including human beings. Restoration of native ecosystems and protection of existing habitats can help slow and prevent further anthropogenic damage.
There is a severe lack of understanding related to these subjects. Many people struggle to comprehend the scope or context of the problems and potential solutions. Currently available resources are frequently inaccessible, overly complicated, or do not supply enough support to users. By designing a product which allows users to easily digest information, design their own projects to impact change, and receive support from their local communities, we can provide a valuable resource to empower the public to protect native ecosystems.
